Hey, have you ever been on the job hunt? We are jobs across America connecting you to thousands of jobs. You can apply for today, listen in for new job opportunities and gain practical strategies on how to obtain them. Welcome to another episode of jobs across America. I'm Briana struggle,

spk_0:   0:25
and I'm Jean Paul Renard.

spk_1:   0:26
And today we're gonna be talking about the power of Lincoln in your professional life. J P. How are you

spk_0:   0:32
doing? Wonderful, Brown. I think it's a great topic. I'm glad that you brought this one up.

spk_1:   0:36
Yeah. So the purpose of the topic is just to explain why linked and so powerful for you and to give you some practical ways, you can be using it to boost your yourself in the professional world dramatically. So we'll start off by talking about how Lincoln literally gives you direct access to thousands of different jobs that are posted all the time. It's a huge we know as a recruiting company. It's a huge resource for when you're looking for people, you know, poster shop there. And we've hired several people through that, I believe Yeah, and how Lincoln gives you direct access. Also too. many high level executives that are at various companies you might be interested in working

spk_0:   1:18
for. Yeah, I think it's an incredible tool. Quick disclaimer We don't work for lengthen right thing is not paying us to promote their company, but we really believe in the tool. Um, we believe in what it's kind of captured within society and this kind of professional networking environment on the opportunities that it could potentially provide both and just not only in job selections and job opportunities, but also in the overall ability to learn right so that, you know, I learned a lot of things like a look at a topic that's on lengthen. And I get facts and information from it from a professional who posted it, whether it be a podcast like this one or another one. And it's great tool.

spk_1:   2:07
Yeah, so we'll dive into the more like educational piece about it later. But that's definitely one of our top three points here. Going into why Lincoln would be a super useful thing for people either looking for jobs or potentially, you know, maybe unhappy with a job there at and thinking about switching sometime in the future is because when you have a profile on there and you connect with professionals, it's not like a maybe social media where people would be selective of who they add based on if they know them or not. It's not like that. You know, you connect with people based on a professional level, so they don't necessarily have to know you to connect with you. And the more you expend your network, expand your network, the more direct access you have to, you know, people seeing your content and, you know you being able to read about what they're all about. So just to give a few quick stats about Lincoln, um and why potentially? It's a good place to go on a job market, is it? Find out the average income of a Lincoln user is 46th about 47,000. God, really? Yeah. Which is higher than the the average annual salary for, like just a regular, just any average American. Okay, okay, So there are 675 million users on Lincoln and 10 million of those R C level executives. So CEOs, CFOs, CMO is whatever c level executives, so I mean, that's a fairly high percentage of users. Yeah, there's, Ah, 41% of all the millionaires in the world use Lincoln. That's insane. So, just by signing up on creating an account, Yes, you have direct access to almost half the millionaires in the world. That's it. Easy.

spk_0:   4:01
Do you? I know I'm connected with some people that are super interesting and that are, you know, even billionaires you connected to anybody interesting and lengthen on, at least from a business perspective.

spk_1:   4:13
Yeah. I recently started extending my network. Actually, I didn't, um, focus on that a whole lot before this last year. So my numbers have grown a lot, but I've kind of been like taking a shot in the dark. And like, you know, I've always liked Airbnb. Let me add their CEO. Yeah, that's smart, is brilliant. And a lot of them have followed buttons. But you can hit the Maur the little three dots that give you more options and you can hit connect? Yeah, not connect with you. But I've got a few connect

spk_0:   4:41
with you eyes that affect you emotionally when you don't take it. You take it personally.

spk_1:   4:52
No, no, really.

spk_0:   4:53
Let me tell you. I have some really interesting connects. I'm connected with Oprah.

spk_1:   4:57
Okay,

spk_0:   4:58
which is really cool. Yes, I'm connected with Michael Jordan. Okay. Is pretty cool. Connected with Tony Robbins. Okay, which I really like, Um, and this couple more. Remember, they accepted you? Yeah. Yeah, it was. I never thought that they would.

spk_1:   5:16
You can follow

spk_0:   5:17
them too. But then they ended their ability for them to accept you.

spk_1:   5:20
So cool. Yeah. Couple people like, I don't think I ever no, much of a like, celebrity follower type prisons. I don't think I ever added any celebrity really people, but I've added a few like CEO, like especially female CEOs I really admire and appreciate, like, I'll add them and they often times they had me back.

spk_0:   5:38
Yeah, that's right. I think so. Again, that goat that plays towards the education and the networking, right? Maybe you're specifically looking, you know, for information on,

spk_1:   5:48
right? Yeah. And these stats, by the way, we got from omni core dot com. So I will go ahead and link that as well. If you want to read that whole stat article on Lincoln for 2020 but another super super useful aspect of Lincoln is that you can whether you know your direction or not, you can put yourself on there as a personal brand. So there's several opportunities to list the things that you're interested in. Maybe your better qualities, you know, and traditional things like resume and school experience and everything like that. So, uh, one more one more stat, I promise I'm done after that. I love him. Out of the 675 million users on Lincoln who are logging in and looking at content every day. Onley three million people on like Dan Post Weekly. Wow. Okay, So I mean, think about Twitter. Or like Instagram, right? Everybody post all the time, right? You know, there's a way higher number than three million. I can almost guarantee Yeah, posting every day. But everybody's doing it. So you don't see as much. All right, if you are one of the few who is posting you also things that you're interested in, you have a way higher percentage that people are going to see your content. Oh, yeah. There's not a lot of people to compete with you, right? Right. Not that it's a competition, but that's a

spk_0:   7:15
brilliant. I mean, that's a brilliant stat. It's a brilliant point. And it really plays to your thing about it, about personal branding. You know how I feel about that. You know, personal branding is really, really critical. So if you are building content consistently and putting in vehicle where you have some exclusivity of the amount of people that are actually posting to what your point is building a personal brand and that will help advance your professional life,

spk_1:   7:41
right? Yeah. And you know whether you know exactly what you want or you don't know what you want it all. If you just post about the things that interest you like, let's say you're really into environmental conservation, and every week you're just maybe posting some thoughts that you had on it. A note, an article you saw just posting that once a week. You have, like, your entire list of connections, seeing that regularly, and it's almost like a practical way to manifest your destiny. That's something you're interested in. Somebody might see that eventually, you know, they see your name all the time every week, and you might get contacted with an opportunity. Yeah, happens all the time.

spk_0:   8:21
Yeah. No, It's a great, great great point, Like

spk_1:   8:24
so, Like, literally manifesting what you want in life.

spk_0:   8:28
Yeah, totally. Totally. I love it. I

spk_1:   8:32
love it. Right? Yeah. So and then the more traditional way of making your personal brand on linked in, obviously, you have your whole profile to customize. So if you're a super artistic, you know, you can make your own graphic banner and profile picture to tell your story. If you'd like to write post an article about maybe a life experience, you can list your education, your references, they even let you list skills. So if you're not unlinked and yet I highly encourage, even if you don't use it regularly to create a profile. Yeah. Just put yourself on there. Yeah. And not to

spk_0:   9:07
mention that when you're creating your profile, you're basically creating your professional resume. Yeah. So, like, resumes were in the past where you're sending out resumes, thio, job boards and whatever. Uh, lengthen is used from recruiters by recruiters, um, enormous amount. And what they're looking at is your profile, and that's your ability to post your resume. So it's a public posting of your resume. Your experience is potentially your passions, right? Your interests in a professional environment. So building that brand, you should do it wisely. Be careful what you're posting, right And that you're representing yourself properly. I also recommend that it's accurate. The accuracy of it is really, really important that if you're posting your resume, they're basically that's what it is that your dates are accurate, that cos you work for accurate because that will be judged because you're gonna have this platform to basically market yourself.

spk_1:   10:04
Yeah. And you are searchable, so searchable. Whereas before people only hear of you if you hand them a raise a resume its true. Have you ever searched me? Yeah. I mean, I think I may search lots of people. I have a way of a great LinkedIn page. Okay, cool

spk_0:   10:27
eyes. Actually, it's amazing. Yeah. Okay. So what about education, Briana? I mean, you know, I think that's one of the values that Lincoln brings to the equation as well. Or platforms like a length in What do you What are your thoughts on that?

spk_1:   10:43
Yeah. So it's basically a free resource to educate yourself. So let's say you do know maybe some companies that are are in your dream plan of. I would love to work for NASA one day, or I'd love to work like I wanted to work for Airbnb for the longest time, like I went on and followed. Airbnb is Paige and unconnected with several of their employees. Um, and then you're just regularly getting education on what their values are. They regularly post articles. I'm sure a lot of those top companies will post educational articles. So if if you're interested in a particular space you can follow a company and read their education, you can follow a hashtag. Let's say you're a recruiter of hashtag recruitment, right? Right. And all of a sudden you're seeing a bunch of free content, and you can also join educational groups. Okay, so you like, Let's say you're in marketing. You conjoined a marketing group, and that's a free and safe space, too. Post questions. You might have to get some practical answers, right? Read some free material. People are always trying to educate and inform there and to post maybe your own thoughts and ideas and bounce ideas off of other people,

spk_0:   12:00
which is part of your brandy, right, right Yeah, about that.

spk_1:   12:03
Yeah. So you know, a lot of times, like, I think in the past, you know, you pay for a magazine subscription and you get them in the mail once a month, and yeah, this is more like it's free. You join a group. It's very specific Thio a topic, and you can just log in whatever and, you know, read up on the current trends in the current news in that category.

spk_0:   12:25
I think that it's just such a powerful tool. Yeah, and not only binding educational resource is, you know, and educating yourself in the categories that you're interested in to your point. But also, if you're a contributor there, it also helps not only in building the brand but the brand of validity of who you are. You building like if you have a level of expertise, people don't know who you are traditionally, right? Just maybe your circle of people. Now, if you expand that and you're able to share your expertise in a vehicle like a lengthen, it now provides a level of validity that you're potentially moving towards being an expert in your field or are already an expert in your field. So when people are looking for somebody to solve a problem that you that was it, that's within your category. They're more likely to cut up to contact you. You help them solve that problem, which opens up a lot of opportunities.

spk_1:   13:19
Yeah, it's kind of like learning how to market yourself a little bit. Totally. Yeah, just sharing. So how do you use LinkedIn? Thio. Educate

spk_0:   13:27
yourself. Yeah, so I use it quite a bit. So I I Some of the things that you highlighted already is what I do, so I do. I am in groups Were I read those threads in the content that's within those groups to gain education. I used it to ask questions. You know, I'm a super inquisitive person, so there's a lot I don't know. So I ask a lot and I get a lot of really good feedback on good, great answers to those questions because you find a link, Then people are eager to answer questions. It's very collaborative in nature, and I use it as a marketing opportunity, right to market us a za company and me as an individual. I'm in there commenting on things that I feel are important. Also providing content on stuff that I'm passionate about, you know? So when there's something that I'm passionate about, it a CZ, you know, all right about it. Yeah, And I put it down and I share that passion. And then I get comments around that, so I use it quite a bit, and then our recruiting team uses it an enormous mouth.

spk_1:   14:30
Yeah, And I feel like, um, I feel like I've seen you. You know, you'll share with the company sometimes, like motivational videos, because there any any space like that, maybe motivation type topics that are outside of maybe your work topic that you use it for.

spk_0:   14:45
Yeah. I mean, you know, it's interesting because I post typically too different things, right? Two different categories. I post things that are related that are specific to our industry. But I post also a lot of personal stuff on Don't mean like, you know, photos of my vacations. I'm talking about like things that I'm passionate about, whether it be supporting the homeless population, whether it be celebration of of of a holiday that I feel is important to discuss or a topic or an issue whether it be an environment or you know, those things I like to share. And I also love Thio to be a source of empowerment because I have received from social media. I typically follow stuff that are very positive in nature, and I try to receive a lot of positivity in the messaging. And I learned a lot from that. One of reasons I love Tony Robbins, for example. You know, these things are about empowerment, so I like to share what I learn. It goes. And when I learned something like that from, let's say, a Tony Robbins or someone else what I digested and I internalize, I like to share that back out to the communities.

spk_1:   16:01
Yeah, that's sometimes a good, like, counter active method to sometimes a lot of negativity. We can get through the daily news, you know? Totally. Yeah, it's good to have some some good sources of information coming in that are positive. Totally for sure.

spk_0:   16:16
Totally, absolutely, absolutely. I like to think that a lot of the problems that we have, especially in our society, are a lot of first world problems, you know, right. We take that for granted, you know,

spk_1:   16:26
Yeah, yeah, So yeah, Lincoln is a great tool. If you haven't joined the 675 million people on it, you should get on that. It is up and coming and already is so yeah, use it as as a way to directly access jobs and people you want to connect with. Use it to build your personal brand and tell your own personal story and use it for education. You know, kind of build your feet as you were saying the way you want it.

spk_0:   16:57
Yeah. And there's one thing to mention that lengthened does pretty cool is they have these tutorials so you can go find online tutorials on how to build your page properly. They rank you like if you look at your personal page on whether you are an up and comer or whether you're an all star and they rank that I would imagine, based upon how you built your page and the amount of content that you're pushing out, right? How involved you are with in there, which provides you when you're a TTE. The higher levels. If you're an all star, it provides you those feeds now hit certain people within your groups, and it builds more visibility to you and your brand. So your ability to get involved in the content will will manifest in your ability to build your brand and find new opportunities.

spk_1:   17:48
Yeah, So I think we're out of time for today. Was there any final thoughts you wanted to add? Oh,

spk_0:   17:53
Briana, that this is amazing content. This'll is amazing topic. So thank you for bringing it up.
